Another rail for breakfast?

Last modified date

At 6:15 this morning, 2/7, Mom brought a prey item back to the nest.  With its long legs and really long toes, I suspect this was another rail – the long toes help to keep them from sinking into the muck when they roam about the salt marsh. Here’s a short video that also shows the owlets and their relative sizes. What difference a day makes (or 3)!

  1. My husband was telling me that an article in the Savannah Morning News stated the older owlet often kills the younger. Someone, please, say it isn’t so!
