Fixing the IR illumination

Chris Steigelman and Phil Soukup operating the 125 foot lift (instructions NOT included..) to repair the infrared nighttime illumination. Found the problem(s) and replaced components, and now there is 24/7 audio and video streaming. Nice job guys!Sent from my iPhone.  The Crane Arrives

Cornell Lab of Ornithology was on hand assisting in the installation of our cameras and got some great shots as well as video which he has generously shared with us. Check out all his photos at this Google+ page.

And if you want to know a LOT more about how bird cams work, from conception to planning, to installation, to monitoring and maintenance, you can watch this hour long video of a lecture by Charles on the bird cam project at Cornell. That sounds like a long video to watch, but if you every watch a DVD movie, this is way more interesting than most!

Lightning Knocked out the Camera!

We’ve had an interesting week trying to get system back online. Seems we’ve been affected by a nearby lightning strike. Comcast is hardening their installation with additional grounding, use of surge suppressors in the equipment box, etc. Will keep you posted once we have cameras back online!
