When asked last week what he thought about the possibilities of Ospreys nesting now….Jim Ozier (GA. DNR Biologist) said ” It is a little late for coastal ospreys to begin nesting, but I suppose it is not impossible that a pair might use the owl nest now that they owls are gone.” And I’m wondering …if the Ospreys are successful with nesting…will the Owls make life unpleasant for them…AND…will we have to change the name of the Nest Cam again? We’re sure getting our monies worth out of this Eagle/Great-horned Owl/ ….   and maybe Osprey nest cam.I guess that this is Chapter 3 …..The birds in the area know this is wonderful habitat for raising young since The Landings on Skidaway Island is a wonderful smorgasbord for many species of wildlife.Beth Roth

  1. Very cool!

If you watch the video from about 7:30 to 9:15 this morning, one osprey arrives and hangs out for a while. It leaves, and returns with another osprey a short time later. They spend over an hour in the nest.

At 8:23:08, one of the ospreys leaves the nest. At 8:25:50, it returns with a huge piece of Spanish moss. One of them is seen later arranging the moss.

    • Thanks for close monitoring! We’ve see the ospreys in the nest a half dozen times, and a couple of times (like now) they have been there for over an hour. It’s now 11:00 on 4/11 and we’ve just reset the camera from a lightning storm last evening. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that they will keep coming back!
