We’ll try to edit this video down later, but for now here’s an entire visit by a Great Horned Owl this afternoon. Definitely trying the nest on for size! At about 5 minutes into the video she’s beginning to break up twigs and sticks. Last year she shredded pine cones to make more comfortable nest material.

Our very sharp-eyed viewers have been spotting one or more owls visiting the nest near sunrise and sunset nearly every day for the past week or so. The word on the street is…. an Eagle has been seen back on the dead tree off the fairway which was our Eagle’s favorite lookout. If it’s the same eagle, it must’ve been unsuccessful finding another mate. SO…next nesting season should be very interesting…if the Eagle comes back to reclaim it’s nest in the fall. This is getting very interesting. The ospreys made another visit this morning at 10:18 and the male immediately went into his guarding pose indicating ownership of the nest. He has done this each time they two have been there together. Is this a sign?? Let’s hope so!
